Southeast Alaska is not only reputed for its fishing but its supreme beauty. Storm-washed, windswept islands, active volcanoes, waters rich with fish and sea mammals, grizzlies, black bears, elk, mountain goats and millions of migrating waterfowl characterize this vast region of Alaska. Southwest Alaska consists of five different regions that is accessible only by air or sea: Kodiak Island, Bristol Bay, Alaska Peninsula, the Pribilof Islands, and the Aleutian Chain, the longest archipelago in the world sweeping over 1,000 miles westward into the Pacific Ocean.

Alaska Charter Fishing

The Aluetian Islands provide excellent fishing for Halibut and all five salmon species. The pristine lakes and rivers that empty into Bristol Bay support world-renowned spawning and harvesting of all five species of Pacific salmon -- king, sockeye, silver, chum, and pink -- as well as rainbow trout, arctic char, grayling, northern pike, lake trout and Dolly Varden.

Local knowledge is the key to a successful Alaska fishing trip. Fishing guides and charter captains not only know the best time to fish for a certain species, but know the methods and gear used to catch these fish. They also are familiar with the rules and regulations for each fish as well as up to date emergency river closures. When planning a charter trip be up front with what you want but remember to be reasonable: No one can guarantee you will catch fish. (For more guide details, click on this link)
